Queensland Counsellors Association Inc Member Association of Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia is proud to present a halfday workshop (9.00am-1.00pm) Saturday 21st August 2010 ACTS OF TRUST Making Sense of Risk, Trust and Betrayal in our intimate Relationships Presenter: Karol Misso Trust is a vital ingredient in most human relationships. It is indispensable in intimate relationships. Such relationships cannot be built on ‘mistrust’. Trust is a complex phenomenon. Yet, it is a word counsellors often hear. It is difficult to build trust that is the product of differentiation and a strong autonomous self. Trust building is a process not an act or event: we build the path of trust by walking on it. Trust can be betrayed by a wide range of behaviours that are perceived as a violation of the implicit/explicit boundaries of an intimate relationship. The choice to trust does not carry any guarantees, certainties or warranties. Trust and Risk are close companions. This workshop will: elucidate and expand the above concepts explore the meaning of trust and situations where trust is betrayed examine the pre-requisites for the development of trust demonstrate relevant therapeutic skills for rebuilding trust Karol Misso is a Fellow of QCA and a PACFA Registered Counselling Therapist with 20 years experience, particularly in Relationship Counselling. He has presented on a range of related subjects at International, National and Regional gatherings.
