Subject: Update on Mental Health Practitioner listing on PACFA Register

Dear Member Associations,

We have received some questions about the process for registration of Mental Health Practitioners, which is currently being rolled out by PACFA. In response, we have developed Frequently Asked Questions to provide answers for you and your members. The FAQ document is attached to this email and at the PACFA website. If you have further questions or issues that need clarifying, please email and we will address them.

We have also updated the Member Association Endorsement Form to streamline the process for approvals, and the Mental Health Practitioner Register Requirements, both of which are also attached. Both documents now make it clear that Applicants must meet at least six of the twelve Mental Health Competencies developed by PACFA. Can you please circulate these updated documents to your members?

Just a reminder that we are still looking for Registrants and Members who have Medicare Provider numbers to sit on panels to assess applications. This is a great way to contribute to the profession in a time limited way. Panels will consist of three members who will assess five applications and make recommendations to the Board.

The Mental Health Practitioner listing will enable PACFA to advocate for inclusion of PACFA Mental Health Practitioners in government funded programs such as the Access to Allied Psychological Strategies (ATAPS).
